This is lamonte a.k.a the #1 biology student of course. I think that the u.s need to do more and step their game up. Europe is mad at the u.s because the u.s is not trying.

It's gonna be just awful when I'm around said...

i think that the u.s should hurry and step in.

chulababyraquel said...

they blame everything on the u.s but they could do their part too

Bunny Black said...

Well the us has other problems i think

i feel that this global warming business is getting way over our heads... if the president is not doing anything i think that the people of america should take power and hold back on most pollutants not for us but our kids and and there kids.

Zoila16 said...

U.S. is the best country.

Bunny Black said...

they do try and blame everything on the us because we are rad and better.

dodgerboy said...

well i think that the u.s should be doing more then the us is doing ...because we do pollutte the world alot and the other countries should all team up and fight all of the climate problems in the world

Lala said...

i REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND WHATS GOING ON.

BUT WHAT I HAVE RECIEVED FROM THIS ARTICLE IS THAT I THINK THAT THEY SHOULD POINT FINGERS AT THE US AS BECAUSE THEY NEED THE US TO HELP OUT BECAUSE WE ARE ONE OF ONE OF THE WORLDS LEADING EMITTER OF CARBON DIOXIDE AND OTHER GREENHOUSE EFFECTS SO IF THEY us DOESNT STEP IN THERE IS REALLY NO USE.

lamonte the fungi said...

well eveyone needs a leader and the u.s is the leader and if we don't step in noone will.

Loco Jesse said...

well, well, well,... this is not just a u.s. thing, the world has to pitch in and help out in this situation.

It's gonna be just awful when I'm around said...

i dont think that is only the u.s's fault i think that people should try and and help instead of blaming eachother

monie1287 said...

Well they are doing something... it said the others are gonna try to cut emissions 25 percent to 40 percent by 2020.

Anonymous said...

on regards to lamonte's comment i completely agree the u.s. like on the news should just move out of the way to give others the chance to get involved...i feel that a world wide involvement fund should take place...

lamonte the fungi said...

i think we should have a vote on it

Anonymous said...

monie1287 said...

The American senate has passed a new legislation, which aims to cut emissions by as much as 60 per cent by 2050.

sara said...

who would vote on the issue? All of the US? What if the world boycotts the because of the US? What is our responsibility in this global probem as a huge emitter of greenhouse gases, and the #1 consumer of fossil fuels?

Bunny Black said...

to zoilas comment. people have pretty good ideas on whats going on in global warming.

lamonte the fungi said...

to chula baby: the u.s is to blame we are the biggest contributers to greenhouse gasae and thats ashame. im sorta ashamed to call my self an american.

Anonymous said...

i agree with u doger boy

monie1287 said...

''There is no comparison between the emissions of countries like India and China and big rich emitters of the world. Stock of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere was built over centuries in the process of creating wealth. This is the natural debt of these nations that they need to pay,'' said Sunita Narain, Director, CSE,

Lala said...

i disagree with chulababyraquel because they're not blaming the Us there just saying the US needs to step in because they are a leading country in Global warming

chulababyraquel said...

this is everyones responsibility... so everyone gotta put a lil effort in it.... u gotta step up and not wait for someone else to do sumthing cuz if we are all waiting for someone to step up then how long r we guna wait???

Anonymous said...

Lala said...

i agree with #1 charger fan with what he said bunny black the president isnt to blame

monie1287 said...

Loco Jesse said...

lamonte the fungi said...

to sara:I think we should have a world wide vote. we are then biggest emitter so we should be aligated to do so much more than anyone else

Zoila16 said...

It's gonna be just awful when I'm around said...

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon had urged the 10,000 delegates gathered in Bali from 190 countries to act fast.

"This is the moral challenge of our generation," he noted. "Not only are the eyes of the world upon us. More important, succeeding generations depend on us. We cannot rob our children of their future."

From now, the UN will embark on at least two years of talks to fashion a more effective and widely accepted successor to the 1997 Kyoto Protocol. The process could determine for years to come how well the world will cut emissions of greenhouse gases blamed for global warming.

cristina f said...

The Kyoto Protocol is a protocol to the international Framework Convention on Climate Change with the objective of reducing Greenhouse gases that cause climate change.

What is kyoto protocol?

Electrical pollution is a major cause of health problems in the modern world. Electrical pollution, invisible, silent, odorless, and tasteless is the perfect pollutant.

President Bush said, "It's easier to deal with the climate change issue if you've got the revenues and finances to invest in new technologies that will change how we live, and at the same time enable us to grow our economies." note that The huge costs of war in Iraq and Afghanistan continue to reduce the ability of the USA to invest in renewable energy systems and improving energy efficiency.

i feel that there is way to much funds on the war... what exactly is the war helping cause i feel that the only reason that the war is costing so much is because the us is still moving in therei feel that the us just needs to pull out and sign a treedy of some kind an focus the attention on global changes...

what i tink is how long will it take for some one to acually realize there is not that much time.and there are certain people that r just really lazy...

The former vice president called for nations to undertake several initiatives. Among them: ratify a treaty establishing a global cap on emissions by 2010, a moratorium on building coal-burning facilities that don't safely trap carbon and a carbon dioxide tax.

A tax is the easiest and most effective way to deal with climate change, Gore said.

"These are the last few years of decision, but they can be the first years of a bright and hopeful future if we do what we must," Gore said. "No one should believe a solution should be found without effort, without cost, without change." Watch why Gore has hope for after the election

The surface of the earth has been warming, the average temperature increasing, for several years. People studying this do not agree on the cause of the warming trend. Some say that man has caused the change; others claim that it is a natural trend.

OSLO, Norway (CNN) -- Al Gore praised Japan and Europe -- but chided the U.S. and China -- for their efforts to combat climate change, "a planetary emergency" at which the former U.S. vice president took aim Monday as he accepted the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.

Al Gore, right, shakes hands Monday with Nobel Peace Prize Committee Chairman Ole Danbolt Mjoes.

1 of 2 Gore shared the honor -- and the $1.6 million in award money -- with the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which was represented by scientist Rajendra Pachauri. Gore said he intends to donate his prize money to an organization that strives to persuade people to cut emissions and reduce global warming.

In his acceptance speech Monday before Norway's royalty and other invited guests, Gore said the world is at a "fateful fork" and must find ways to counteract the shifting global temperatures.

"We, the human species, are confronting a planetary emergency, a threat to the survival of our civilization that is gathering ominous and destructive potential even as we gather here," Gore said.

Gore struck a more optimistic tone in saying it isn't too late to reverse the crisis and avoid some -- but not all of the consequences -- "if we act boldly, decisively and quickly." Watch as Gore says, "The future is knocking on our door" »

Scientists say there is new evidence that the polar ice caps are melting at a faster pace. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says it is 90 percent certain that human activity is linked to rising temperatures.

It seems that the climate of our planet is reverting rapidly to that which has persisted for much of the last 300 million years. Average temperatures and sea levels were higher, there were no polar ice-caps and temperature differences between poles and the equator were lower. The rate of this reversion, certainly in so far as it is connected with greenhouse gases, is being accelerated by humans and their activities and to such an extent that their must be a risk of "overshoot" into a situation which is entirely new.
